House of M 01:58
A new chapter. Captured before and after You heard my book of life now you’re tuned into the rapture Had to make some revisions; thought that I was finished Replenished my drive, incentivized by more ambition Listen, your comfort zone’s the only place you’ll never grow Be like water. You adapting to my ebb and flow Inevitable. Before I’m snapped into the dust Telling my story is a must before I drift to where the legends go Nowadays I’m more aware of my mortality Survived a couple tragedies. Altering my reality Balancing out my apathy by leaning where my passions be I feel reborn. Blow the horn like Nat Adderly Naturally dope. I attract whatever good comes to me I won’t hold you, I’ll keep it brief like a summary Come to me for advice and hear what you don’t like Then run back to your man like, “Yo Mallz be acting funny” See I don’t operate like them other dudes Go out their way for shortcuts when hard work’s in front of you Never rode on coattails to get where I was going Master of self, you can call me the Black ronin Knowing more now than I ever did previous My demeanor’s cold ‘cause life’s never been lenient But I’ma keep it a buck like Arizona teas The hardest thing to be is what you have always dreamed

And put a lemon in the water for me Ayo Sharp we gotta go back to the laboratory My last joint, well you can call that one an allegory Lessons learned now I’m in a new category A sadder story when people show their true colors And try to do you the way you seen ‘em do others Gotta be more selective who you call brother Forty years on Earth and still so much to discover I shudder at the thought that I think I know it all Cause in any given moment you could need an overhaul But overall, my mind’s running like Oranthal In the 70s before the concussion protocols I’m hoping y’all can pick it up when I drop a gem This life advice at a price you can cop for ten An everyman, I ain’t selling you on opulence My authenticity and passion’s what I’m offering And that’s just one to grow on. Grow on Grow on. So, so on and so on And that’s just one to grow on. Grow on Grow on. So, so on and so on I’m in the crib playing fireworks or gunshots On New Year’s Eve while we’re waiting til the ball drops Thinking back to puberty and the onslaught Of questions bout my future, wondering when they’ll all stop Nowadays I’m not concerned about a due date It happens when it happens. No such thing as too late I’m working at my own pace and you can go on race I set my own finish line and raise my own stakes I freed myself from the constraints of timelines That path I took to greatness is a winding, fine line Now people look at me like I’m some kind of Einstein I just work my plan instead of acting wanton A calm mind helps me see from every angle proper With clarity that’s exceeding the teachings of Chopra I’m at the DPAC enjoying the sounds of an opera To the victor goes the spoils, I’m earning my coppers And that’s just one to grow on. Grow on Grow on. So, so on and so on And that’s just one to grow on. Grow on Grow on. So, so on and so on

Jack of all trades, I have mastered ‘em The elephant in the room. I’m a mastodon Sharp Cuts on the beats accomplish great feats Shit on any little thing you are rapping on January born date, I’m a Capricorn Little cutie caught my eye, an attractive jawn Said she feeling my style, hope this ain’t too wild But maybe later we can go reenact a porn Let me digress. Keep my business to the chest Wanna reach out? Don’t call bruh. Just shoot a text Raleigh’s finest. Voice reach out to Budapest Talent get’s you so far. Hard work will do the rest This’ll be your inspiration to motivate Two step to this joint we cultivate Spread love to my people, give a hand when I need to But shit, you know niggas still known to hate La la la la la la la la. La la la la la la la la La la la la la la la la. La la la la la Come again La la la la la la la la (One more ’gin). La la la la la la la la. (Come again) La la la la la la la la (One more ‘gin) La la la la la ha ha Massive ting. Bash and ting They let me on the Earth when I go rapturing So I guess I’m a Hellboy fist tip your bellboy Don’t worry son I got your back like a deltoid Or trapezius. It’s a new dawn for them cats who try to rap greasiest See we kick nothing but the raw uncut for Your ass. Never keep it behind museum glass. Out in the open I hunt down trash Got them in my scope waiting for word to pass I’m a hit man agent. Forty seven write the Fiver wire line shut down your battle station Amazing. Futuristic like Miguel O’Hara bring terror when we connect like velcro An old school put a shell in your toe. Screaming this is the way like my name’s Mando Or DMC. I’m an NC MC and if you ever say Bash you gonna see MCs get down La la la la la la la la. La la la la la la la la La la la la la la la la. La la la la la Come again La la la la la la la la (One more ’gin). La la la la la la la la. (Come again) La la la la la la la la (One more ‘gin) La la la la la ha ha ha ha Bash

Feel Good 02:01
Du-rags with the cape out Gained ten pounds back and stopped eating take-out Got too loosey goosey, had to fall back on my discipline Off the head like a kufi. Fuck was I thinking, man Truly on my Mallz shit. Once I thought I lost it When the odds are at their worst, I work it out like cross-fit Topic of an underdog, don’t it make you nauseous I ain’t studdin’ none of y’all, this is a self portrait Chiaroscuro mural, bro I came out of the darkness Used to be so reckless with no regard for caution Often get dissatisfied. Never been complacent The only thing I want more in life is my own greatness Still working on my patience, tho it ain’t coming quick enough Humility and diffidence. Pray I never mix ‘em up Living up to standards that I set myself is paramount Ignore the peanut gallery. Opinions, I don’t care about Hey hey don’t you feel good Don’t it feel good Hey hey don’t you feel good Okay maybe it was 20 pounds. Went a little overboard Hope this album pleases all the algorithm overlords Mortimer, we’re back. Trading places with my future me Just to tell my past self things will work out beautifully Usually I’m even-keeled with a solid poker face No debate. Never heard it said I couldn’t hold my weight Best in my class. It’s impossible to overstate No mistake. Stock rising higher than the Covid rate Had to learn I need to take that chip off of my shoulder blades Letting all the shit they say drift away like Dobie Gray On my way to legendary status in a couple years Looking back on how my perservance is what got me here A lot of peers fell up off the map by the wayside I’m still standing, no regrets. In my art, I take pride Hey hey don’t you feel good Don’t it feel good Hey hey don’t you feel good Don’t it feel good

A bad man. Dealt a bad hand Still won the book with no spades, like God damn Been dope since Kangol told us about Roxanne And I won’t touch the stage til you pay me in advance The Carolina Kaiju invites you to witness A changing of the guard, me and Sharp the new litmus Never got an F on a test I was given. I’m gifted Burn bridges with the cruelest of intentions. Efficient Coast to coasting with no wasted motion The flow is worldwide although Raleigh is the locus I’m from a town where success seems so hopeless Now every joint I pen is my next magnum opus for real Top Quality. Solace is in my sovereignty. Modest but strong following, bonded like Sean Connery Pardon. Your last offering, nothing but cacophony Honest. My rhyme book is considered a large armory. Holla Too smart. You charlatans ain’t conning me Gotta be my moves make me smoother than glazed pottery Fathered many styles, you can’t copy me properly My heart’s beyond belief and that’s putting it modestly Middle name Raheem. The style’s furious A message to them Boyz N The Hood and those curious This independent rap game ain’t luxurious A life sentence. It don’t matter who the jury is Be sure to watch out for them vultures that be circling Thirsty for the glory, they ain’t never put the work in it Them bird brains chirping but I’m Ming The Merciless You a flash in the pan who don’t deserve to win These pertinent bars is curtains for y’all Try to front and play it off while you nervously scoff I’m from them dirt roads where you gotta drive slow The ghost of Jim Crow threatened our survival I’m liable to mix the music with the medicine Do it for my folks who went to school with no accrediting They lie and tell you that your melanin’s irrelevant We post-racial since we had that Black president Fetishize our trauma. I go on like a comma Keep swimming through the sharks and piranhas But we all just trying to reach our own nirvana While some of us are just trying to make it to tomorrow

Al Dunbar 03:30
I live my life in a flow state Ready to step like new greeks at a probate Wondering how many times is it gon’ take ‘Fore you learn time and money’s two things that I don’t waste At first impression I’m a modern day Monet Survey the landscape and rep for the whole state Big Tech got an effect on the growth rate Now the rent is too high and natives gotta relocate Back in ’08, I was desolate and destitute Learned the hard way nobody’s gonna rescue you Put in action all the things my mind was set to do And now my ends meet. Connected like a vestibule I don’t think in terms of things that I would never do I see the vision, make the plan and then I execute Before my breath is through take note of what I left with you A decade plus. Track record is impeccable I hear them ask, Mallz when you gonna drop the tape I ask myself how much stress can a nigga take They’re like Mallz when you gonna drop the tape I ask myself how much stress can I… Late nights and early mornings Rapper life is hard but I didn’t heed the warnings Make the most of it though my status low budget Trying to make a couple hundred though my buzz is steady soaring More than meets the ears, the game is smoke and mirrors Your people thing you’re stacking but have no idea You hear the voice and you know it’s high quality Your favorite rapper probably owes you an apology I stay consistent, no outliers or anomalies The Grammy snub who can body all the nominees All I need’s my Bash Bros and my cash flow A quiet dude, you probably thought I was an asshole Then again, that’s probably accurate These Al Dunbars got me asking What’s Happening I do be heavy on the obscure references Regardless if you catching it, you still get the messages I hear them ask, Mallz when you gonna drop the tape I ask myself how much stress can a nigga take They be like Mallz when you gonna drop the tape I ask myself how much stress… Every song’s an open letter just to know me better I’m laser focused. Shoot my shot like an old beretta Trying to get to nine mil then I’m copacetic And toe the line between go-getter and overzealous I developed a seventh sense, no embellishment And never shied away from my own intelligence An introvert, no need to ask me where the hell I went I’m in the house, solitude’s the best medicine Ever since my first release my moves are purposely Calculated. Made with a sense of urgency I learned when to fire back and when to turn the cheek And left the opps waiting, sweating me nervously Came on the scene with a gift and a firm belief That I’m a beast. Worked hard and I earned my keep I played the back while I stacked clout and currency A decade plus in my prime with all certainty

Top down with the seat back Tunnel vision mission. I don’t listen to the feedback You lower humans, keep that. Posting on the 'Book For validation like you need that. Suck your own dick on social media. The selfie stick posted where your knees at Bash Brother handle sound pristine when you speak that See that? The jab is quick the upper cut will punish you We Bloodsport Champions, you jockeying for number two Portrait of an artist, only did what he wanted to Van Gogh. One ear covered. Drop on the one and two Running through these lines like Bo Jackson in his prime Find a better combination, know that motherfucker lying I am first ballot. Rendering y’all invalid Thor with his mallet mixed with Dali with a palette I don’t need the automatic. Still touch em when the semi spray Magnum on me. No gold packet but fuck em anyway Any time on any day. See me when you see me Or play it Stevie. You in the way. Bottom feeder You were never worthy. Main event Mallz with the suit and all You was never tough, used to come and roof your ball Stare you down like “who is y’all. I aint never heard of ya” Bars splash your chest like PETA protesting furriers As a common courtesy, kneel before your masters Test Bash? You got no shot like anti-vaxxers Infected with the knowledge, sick enough to know what matters The Gawd branded street preacher sticking all the pastors Let the church say that he one of the illest bastards Never had a father to his style like them other rappers I can’t relate to these content creators I make music with a purpose for wandering soul searchers And never understood why people focus on the haters Cause the best version of Mallz will always be the latest Weigh this against your top ten, I promise this is heavier 12 shots. Two for each of the six that carry ya Bash

Breakthrough 03:32
Seen it all; did it all and had a breakthrough Sunny days or stormy nights I’m grateful Seen it all; did it all and had a breakthrough Sunny days or stormy nights Came a long way from them syrup sandwiches And sleepless nights, feeling like I couldn’t handle it Now I live a life that I am enamored with In hopes you can be inspired by my candidness Understanding it’s the journey where the lessons are Diversified my repertoire and been at where they never are What am I but a sum of my experiences Good and bad through the tears, laughs and seriousness Clearly it’s my maturity I’m speaking from Despite mistakes I’m still proud of who I’ve become Son, brother, best friend, uncle, confidant The next GOAT when I rap before an audience So drink your sauvignon. Me, I’ll take a Perrier And celebrate the life that I worked so hard to make I carved a way from them tobacco and them cotton fields Grateful for every step as the plot’s revealed Seen it all; did it all and had a breakthrough Sunny days or stormy nights, I’m grateful Seen it all; did it all and had a breakthrough Sunny days or stormy nights I used to walk around entitled not so long ago Funny how this life can make you call an audible One day you feel like the whole world owes you But with enough time, you realize that it’s all a show Called my bro just to tell him that I love him He asked why I been so sentimental all a sudden I said big bro, we Black men over 40 And if we don’t appreciate what’s left then we’ve learned nothing So stop and smell the roses. Watch the sun rise and set Explore your full emotions. Try to keep your pride in check And I regret all those times where I was less than me Ain’t trying to be perfect, I’m just trying to be free No more chasing validation from them people who Wait until you make a name to have a seat with you Cause the real ones gonna follow where you lead them to This life is what you make it or what you will feed into

Juggernautin through the walls in my Jodeci boots like “Shut the fuck up, Charles” If yall don't know that shit, you're way too young They say I probably should stop - I'm having way too much fun More than some. I’m aging like the Cask of Amontillado Sipping a Tempranillo - stainless steel Movado And with the pin I body dummies like Papa Shango Serpent and the Rainbow yanking you out your Tahoe Yo! (yo) Bash Brothers on the flow Other crews got skills can't FUCK with us, though Cause the chemistry is strong, the bond is covalent You cats are ionic, never reaching iconic status It's ironic how y’all being so sardonic when We wrote a gospel, and put our fuckin bars on it Y’all got wack drums I come to put my balls on it The step-brother here to smother you moronic motherfuckers Sharp Cuts I got the beat, Scott Summers And you can all envision the heat In the speakers, in your ear or just bumping up the street Bash Brothers - and put that motherfucker on repeat, yeah Main event Mallz. Pay homage to the trinity I spaz with the Bash like “what the fuck’s gotten into me” Thunder god from Asgard but look like John Henry Lay the hammer with the grammar, blow minds like Kennedy Perfect symmetry. You can’t even grasp the half of it Let alone imagine it. Grappling with the savages Mastered my own madness and hatching a plan to traffic it Straight to your speakers quick as Amazon packages From the city of Raleigh; the state of confusion Where rivalry’s about which color blue you’re choosing I’ll DDT a devil on the mat for my amusement And have your ghost writers taking notes for improvement Master teacher on a different world, ask Jalisa Masterpiece theatre raps will reach ya Meet the object of your nightmares causing sleep paralysis You in the crosshairs, you won’t be the same after it Mallzini the elite - Scott Summers And you can all envision the heat In the speakers, in your ears or just bumping up the street Bash Brothers. Now put that muh fucker on repeat As I spit the venom write the verse in Peter Parker's blood If Noah's Ark could ever it would never when I start to flood Praise GAWD! Talk yo’ shit. Whether a dart or slug I shoot it with the best of 'em bitch. But enough about me Tell me what you think about your Lord and Savior Bitches walk around my crib half-naked asking the lord for favors My auras major shoot it now and save the talk for later  A force of nature with a seven figure cost of labor The guns imported with the awkward laser  Purple reign on 'em and my side piece is Appelonia, dig it My status unreachable. Kung Fu is unbeatable Use telepathy communicate the unspeakable Between me and you challenging the champion I see in you Once you spend time with Gawd, it's hard being you I know human. But take this on your way to church Dope shit is out there. All you gotta do is search It’s Gawd Brand spitting heat - Scott Summers Nah, Hank McCoy beasting on the beat Timberlands and hoodies whenever this mutant play the street While you in the danger room, it’s Bash Brothers on repeat

Never thought I’d live to see my fourth decade To express the thoughts organized in my left brain Now I’m feeling like I got the game in checkmate Grandmaster, stand back it’s all gas like methane An OG but still feel like a young buck Me and Sharp Cuts stay connected like nunchucks Some of y’all probably think it’s just dumb luck Cause you didn’t see the work that I put in on the come up Now It’s grays in the beard. Power moves with no fear Kinda weird when I think of what it took to get here Never had a blueprint. Made it up as I went Most times I never made nearly as much as I spent Sent a message in a bottle to myself as a reminder When times rough, treat yourself a little kinder Find your own slice of heaven in a way you can believe it When an opportunity for greatness comes you better seize it It’s just a subtle reminder Note to self Regardless who’s on top, you are that dude Calm under pressure when those others lack couth A natural. Spent some time carrying the capitol Spread your wings and now only the elite can rap with you Cut a couple ties so you could do what you had to do Inspiring your peers and the generation after you The see it but won’t say it Glad my career ain’t depend on their validation Never had smoke cause I ain’t the one to play with Just know I’m top five in every possible ranking Their favorites came and went but I’m still making progress They tried to follow trends but they fade away regardless But here I am far better than I’ve ever been Won half my battles just by putting effort in I’ve been through it all. Leveled up accordingly And despite the odds, I became what I was born to be It’s just a subtle reminder Note to self

Quick 16. Just a quick 16. Ayo Sharp go and hit em with a quick 16 A quick 16 Ayo I’m 10 steps ahead of you pricks It really don’t hurt if you don’t buy my shit It really don’t seem to be no competition Bash through your expectations and visions Mission is accomplished. You looking somberish You mad, bro? Then keep it in the closet Bash in effect here to take that next The pen in one hand the other cash that checks I call down the rain Al Roker Slap my dick on the table like the big joker Ha ha ha but ain’t shit funny You side bitch is a dude, your main chick bummy A man with 10 hands can’t take shit from me I covered every base in the company. Bash In a flash I’ll incinerate trash The beats ain’t free, motherfucker don’t ask me Ayo, let me get 16 Just a quick 16 Ayo Mallz it ain’t nothing but a little 16 Just quick 16 Bring it on back and let me get 16 Just a quick 16 Mallzini it aint nothing but a little 16 Just a quick 16 Sorry for the wait When I’m cooking in the lab, ain’t no time to waste Got a Walmart budget with designer taste Never broke the bank but it got a minor scrape I’m a Black militant doing my due diligence Know I’m top five regardless who’s feeling it Don’t need a crown to know my reign’s imminent Niggas play roles but bare no resemblance They don’t fit the mold This a unique piece. I don’t bend or fold A real stand up dude, you can rent your soul I go dumb over beats but stay in control Paid dues now I’m reaping the fruit The return on investment of seeing it through Stay booked every year, I got features to do Just a quick 16. Good evening, adieu It’s just a quick 16 A little quick 16 Heard em ask hey Mallz what the hell does that mean It’s just a quick 16 It’s just a quick 16 Y’know a quick 16 Babygirl ain’t nothing wrong with a little 16. Just a quick 16 A quick 16 A quick 16 Just a quick 16 A lil quick 16 Alright fuck it then, here’s a quick 16 People always saying what the hell does that mean Never have you heard a track slap that clean I’m a microphone fiend on the global rap scene Sharp chopping the cut then let go Watch heads roll. Got janitors mopping it up Custodian, dick. Y’all on some Nickelodeon shit Origami rappers all get folded up quick Like beach chairs I get raw whenever the beat’s there We can rock it til the morning Surely you know I come with it early And get em open like Bojangles at 5:30 Now how did that bar make you feel My NC people know the shit is real Sharp signing off like Walter Cronkite Go fuck yourself, god bless and goodnight
12.
No apologies Firm in my word you herbs shouldn’t have started me When will you learn you’ll get burned like glazed pottery Obviously you try to keep up but you can’t follow me Gotta be his team because his nonchalant demeanor Makes it hard for cats to read him. Serious as a subpoena See this spark that’s in my pupil. Tell you this moment’s crucial Survived the wildest times but I left with a couple loose screws Still morning Guru and Phife but now it’s DOOM too I moved from a soldier to ruler like Chaka Zulu Nothing else to prove you can keep your carnival prizes I know that I am the livest. Surprising I’m steady thriving Rising to the peak, fist up like uhuru Blacker than the queen mother practicing her voodoo American nightmare, visions of Cthulu ‘cause there’s Nah not a damn thing Nah not a damn thing Not a damn thing Not a damn thing Nope. Not a damn thing Nah. Not a damn thing Earthseed. Cursed from the nursery First it was merchant fleets. Purchased the birth of me Now it’s mass incarceration and murdering by the state it feels there’s But I stay vigilant, militant as I ever been Anything I put effort in flourishes no exceptions This is self-affirming music for positive motivation The lazy ones think it’s rappity-rapping for a playlist Amazing how I take this from complex to the basic Journalists underrate it. I feel like it’s all been wasted Hate it when I’m like this but then I’m always reminded that… And I’m all about progression. Keeping on moving forward Leaving behind the dormant, feeling blessed every morning Thoughts come out disjointed then pieced together enormous Taking the ugly truth and when I put it down, it’s gorgeous Not a damn thing Not a damn thing Not a damn thing Not a damn thing Not a damn thing Not a damn thing

Fate favors the prepared Always at the ready. Do it broke, do it scared Fared better than some others who had all the connections But they never gave the effort so we cannot be compared A lone wolf without the cub Drop you on your head, you begging coach for a sub Most dominant. I work the angles while you fish for compliments 90 in the shade, chilling no matter how hot it is Calm under pressure pushing product cross continent And still at my best when I feel a drop in confidence All jokes aside, had to keep my stride I felt the urge to quit while my name was on the rise Kept my head throughout the dark when all I had was pride One time for Sharp and ‘Cyce being down for the ride Mean Marc, Double S, Tower, Sham, Addaless 20 years of brotherhood, I wish you much success Just a few in my tribe, impossible to name them each Love and miss you every day. Rest In Peace Lady Vee K-Hill for the game and Comanche for the lane This indie shit can be a drain, just remember why you came

about

"A Subtle Reminder" serves as a note to self that making music should be fun - that whole 'remember why you started' thing. This album was born from the spirit of the Bash Brothers sessions at Sharp Cuts' studio. I felt more comfortable making this album than I have on all my previous records and it really comes across on every song. I hope you enjoy this album as much as Sharp and I enjoyed creating it.
